architectural design project
project 1b / 1c: design strategy proposal and detailed design
PHASE 1B | DESIGN STRATEGY PROPOSAL
Based on the design brief and pre-analysis of context, user and programme in 1A, we were required to design a building that delivers a strong relationship to place, people and time. It is also imperative that the design was to be environmental sustainable. The building was to adhere to the regulatory by-laws (UBBL) and fire regulation. The building was to be no larger than 2000m2 and take the following into account: - 10% staff accomodation - 15% administrative space (offices, storage) - 20% circulation - 25% public space (restaurants. shops, libraries, toilets, MPHs) - 30% programme-specific space (eg: classrooms, kitchens, lecture halls, etc)
A minimum of 20 carpark spaces and a loading/unloading space for a minimum of 2 trucks as well as a proper drop-off zone for users were required. Appropriate landscape space were also to be included.
PHASE 1C | DETAILED DESIGN
Based on the proposed sketch design, we were to consider and included expanded aspects of design development in tandem with the desgn of spaces, e.g. : regulatory requirements, fire safety, materials, construction, sustainability, feasibility and other relevant considerations wherever possible, integrating the development to produce a richer, more multilayered design. A portion of design were also to be selected and designed for technological development and resolution and integrate environmental strategies into the design.
