asian architecture
project 2 : documentation study
In this project, it involves the study of streets in an Asian city to understand the historical and social aspects of a city by examining the development of tradition, modernization and globalization of streets. We were required to take 10 pictures each and compile it to become a photobook. We were also required to do an A2 size manual sketched street map (2D or 3D view) with annotations of landmarks or significant elements that reflect the architecture iconography of the street. My group chose Jalan Dato' Maharaja Lela in Ipoh, Perak as our street.
Through this project, I've learned to describe the historical development of the main strands of Asian Architecture, identify a broad range of issues related to the historical and chronological transitions of Asian architectural history and lastly interpret architectural language in relation to the development of Asian Architecture and urbanism based on theme of tradition, modernity and globalization.
